Marketing Support: Artist II

Description:

The Marketing Support: Artist II component of the Music Nova Scotia Investment Program supports Artists II and Record Labels applicants by contributing investment to the costs of the marketing and promotion of a single, EP, LP, or tour. Projects focused solely on asset creation are ineligible. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is an investment of 50% of the Total Eligible Budget to a Program maximum of $5,000 per deadline, to a maximum of $12,500 per year for Artist II applicants.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
Artist II artists who meet all of the following:

  • updated accomplishments and goals completed in Artist Profile;
  • have completed 5 Basic Training sessions;
  • have band member agreements, if groups;
  • must also meet 3 of the following:
  • minimum of 500 lifetime units sold of all releases combined (500 streams = 1 unit sold, 6 single downloads = 1 unit sold);
  • minimum of 3,500 social media followers across all platforms;
  • minimum of 400 Spotify followers or 400 YouTube subscribers;
  • minimum of 30 performances out of province within the past 2 years;
  • song charted on Billboard top 40 within the past 2 years;
  • album/EP charted Top 10 on Earshot or NACC with the past 2 years;
  • $30,000 in gross revenue (excluding grants) within the past 2 years;
  • recognized booking agent (Feldman, APA, Paradigm, Paquin, CAA, WME, ITA. This list is non-exhaustive; please contact the Program Manager if you are an artist who needs this criteria in order to change programs);

Developing songwriters/producers or export ready songwriters/producers (must meet all of the following):

  • Nova Scotian owned business;
  • be a registered Nova Scotian business with CRA business numbers (including registered sole proprietors or partnerships);
  • be engaged in the primary activities of Songwriting or Production, including co-writes and toplining;
  • must have writing credits (minimum 33% writer’s share) on a minimum of 2 songs performed by an artist other than the songwriter;
  • can demonstrate revenues from core business activities including the sale and licensing of recorded music, publishing and commissions.

Applicants must complete the Applicant Profile webform at least one (1) week prior to submitting an application;

    a completed application form;
  2. 2
    a current Marketing Plan.
