Description:
The Artist in Residence Program is intended for individual artists to participate in residencies and New Brunswick public or private institutions and organizations to host professional artists, and enable them to pursue specific projects relating to their creative work. The artists in residence are also to contribute to the promotion and understanding of the arts by means of the artists’ contact with the clientele of the establishments.
Comments on Funding:
This program is divided into two components:
Artist in residence – Artists: to participate in residency opportunities in New Brunswick or abroad, or for residency opportunities in Quebec as per an agreement with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, and;
Artist in Residence – Host Organizations: for not-for-profit, for-profit and institutions to host artists in residence.

Eligibility:
Applicants can be artists or public or private institutions and organizations.
Artists must:
1. Be a Canadian citizen, have an affiliation with a First Nation on Turtle Island, be a permanent resident of Canada or have an application for
permanent resident in process;
2. Have resided in New Brunswick for at least one year (12 months) prior to the application deadline;
3. Must qualify as a professional artist according to the guidelines in Appendix 1: artsnb Definition of a Professional Artist.
Artists who present a project in a discipline other than the one in which they normally operate must have at least one presentation or work in that discipline in a professional
context.
Organizations must:
1. be established in New Brunswick,
2. present as a candidate a professional artist who has made significant contributions in an arts discipline and who continues to be active in the profession,
3. present a project which meets program objectives,
4. not have an overdue Final Report for any project funded by artsnb.
Eligible artistic disciplines: architecture, craft, dance, literary arts (including spoken word, storytelling, literary performance and literary translation), media arts, multidisciplinary arts, theatre, visual arts, classical and non-classical music.
Application Steps:
Applicants must:
1. create an online account on https://artsnb.ca/oa,
2. submit the application by 11:59pm on the deadline date.
Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. the completed application form, 2. the project description (max. 350 words), project title, location, start and end dates,
3. information on the hosting organization,
4. a balanced project budget,
5. information on the proposed artist-in-residence,
6. samples of work,
7. Resume / CV and letter of agreement with the artist,
8. critical reviews, press clippings and up to 2 letters of recommendation (optional).
Funding recipients are required to provide an final report following completion of the project.
