Description:
The Heritage Grant Policy is an incentive program designed to encourage property owners to meet the spirit and intent of the Heritage Conservation By-Law, as expressed in the Standards and Guidelines for Conservation of Historic Places in Canada. Heritage Conservation Grants are intended to assist owners to retain traditional materials and details of character-defining elements and, if necessary, replace them with new components, matching the original materials and profiles.
Comments on Funding:
The maximum grant for conservation work shall be $10,000 and the minimum grant shall be
$500.

Eligibility:
Applicants must have privately-owned properties located within designated conservation areas under the City of Moncton Heritage Conservation By-law that meet the folowing criteria:
1. The building or structure for which interventions are proposed shall be located on a privatelyowned property that is designated as a conservation area.
2. The application and scope of work shall detail how the character-defining elements of the
building or structure will be conserved.
3. Where there is a statement of significance documented for the property that is the subject of
the application, the character-defining elements in the statement shall be referenced for
meeting the minimum requirement under subsection
Application Steps:
Applicants must submit an Application Form (see Appendix A) to the Heritage Officer / City of Moncton Planning
and Development Department prior to the commencement of any work and prior to applying for any applicable development approvals (e.g. Municipal Heritage Permit or Building/Development Permit).
Documentation Needed:
Applicants must submit:
1. Application Form (see Appendix A)
2. photographs of the project site and highlight the character-defining
elements of the building or structure that are proposed to be conserved.
3. drawings, specifications, or descriptions that illustrate the project
location and proposed scope of work.
4. submissions under subsection (3) be prepared by a
technical or professional consultant (e.g. certified engineering technologist, professional
architect or engineer).
5. overall project budget with conservation work identified and
itemized.
6. e one (1) competitive cost estimate for all labour and materials
included in the scope of work.
7. a Heritage Conservation Plan.
