Description:

The main purpose of the HAF Growth Areas Housing Grant Program is to incentivize, by way of grants, the development of new housing in Development Charge Areas over the CMHC, HAF funding period (2023 – 2026). The HAF Growth Areas Housing Grant Program includes a per-door incentive grant for landowners and developers in Development Charge Areas to be disbursed upon the successful completion of the building’s foundation

Comments on Funding:

A total of 10 dwelling units may be approved per application with the grant total not exceeding $150,000. ($5,000 for a single unit dwelling, $10,000 per dwelling unit for a two-unit dwelling, semi-detached dwelling, three-unit dwelling, townhouse dwelling, or rowhouse dwelling and $15,000 per dwelling unit for a multiple-unit dwelling

Eligibility:

Applicants must be landowners and developers seeking to construct new residential dwelling units
within Development Charge Areas.
1. The subject property or properties must be located within a Development Charge Area.
2. Any applicant wishing to be considered for a grant under this policy must complete and submit an Application Form (see Appendix A) to the City of Moncton following the issuance of a
building permit.
3. This grant is only eligible to developments that have applied for a building permit after the
signing of the contribution agreement between CMHC and the City of Moncton.
4. Only one application may be made per property and applications will be processed in order of
receipt.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:
1. Complete and submit an Application Form (see Appendix A) to the City of Moncton.
2. Prior to approval and disbursement (note: the Director of Planning and Development is the
signing authority of the application review committee), the building foundation shall be
deemed complete by either:
a. Confirmation by the Building Inspector; or
b. The submission of a report by the applicant prepared by the project architect that
certifies the building’s foundation is complete
