Enviro-Depotâ„¢ Infrastructure Funding Program

Description:

The Enviro-Depotâ„¢ Infrastructure Funding Program provides financial assistance that will be used specifically for improvements to an ENVIRO-DEPOTâ„¢ facility and/or its operation.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will be provided in the form of an interest-free loan.
Funding is up to 80% of approved eligible costs.
Loans of $5,000 or more shall require security by way of assets, personal guarantees, or other acceptable forms as determined by the Committee.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • must be Nova Scotia ENVIRO-DEPOTâ„¢ owners and landlords,
  • shall normally have a minimum 20% equity in the project.

Application Steps:

submit the completed forms and relevant documentation by email to klpooley@divertns.ca or by regular mail to ENVIRO-DEPOTâ„¢ Infrastructure Funding Program, Divert NS, 35 Commercial Street, Suite 400, Truro, NS, B2N 3H9.

Documentation Needed: 

The applicant must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • the project’s schedule, including project milestones (2 to 3 only) that could be used to trigger payment of any approved program funding, if applicable,
  • a detailed budget that includes anticipated costs for buildings, capital equipment, leased equipment, supplies and tests, and any other related costs. A detailed schedule of all wages and salaries paid, including any contracted assistance. Relevant details surrounding all other funding and owner’s equity.
  • the most recent complete financial statements (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows).

Research & Development Program

Description:

The Research & Development Program provides research funding support to investigate, design and develop: materials or products that incorporate solid waste resources, technologies that will facilitate the separation and recovery of solid waste resources, and enhanced market opportunities for solid waste resources and/or recycled materials.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will be provided in the form of a non-repayable contribution or a conditionally repayable loan.
Funding is up to 50% of approved eligible costs, to a maximum of $50,000.
In some instances, where in the opinion of the Committee the project is of particular strategic value, a higher level of assistance may be offered.

The applicant must:

  • be businesses, business associations, partnerships, agencies, municipalities, universities, colleges,
  • and/or project activities shall be based in Nova Scotia,
  • have research and development initiatives that support the Province’s Solid Waste-Resource Management Strategy and the mandates of Divert NS

Value-Added Manufacturing Program

Description:

Value-Added Manufacturing Program provides financial assistance to Nova Scotia-based businesses for the purpose of supporting the development of value-added products from materials recovered from the waste stream.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will be provided in the form of a loan, forgivable loan or, non-repayable contribution.
Funding is up to 50% of approved eligible costs.
 


When It Ends:

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • be individual businesses organized as sole proprietorship's, partnerships, or corporations,
  • be business associations or industry groups,
  • be industry-led collaborative partnerships between the private and public sectors and two or more businesses or consortia,
  • hold the necessary licenses, leases, and permits, where applicable,
  • and/or project activities shall be based in Nova Scotia, unless specifically approved by Divert NS,
  • confirm at least a 20% equity position in the project to qualify for assistance. 

Divert NS encourages business alliances and partnered proposals for new products, services, and technologies of province-wide significance and benefit.
