Type of Program:
The Work Ability Program provides work experience opportunities to unemployed individuals who require a job placement to overcome a barrier as identified through their employment action plan and financial support to their employers by reimbursing part of the wage and the employer’s share of benefits for the duration of the placement.
Comments on Funding:
The reimbursement rate is minimum wage plus the employer’s share of benefits (CPP, EI, and vacation pay).
The wage reimbursement is up to a maximum of 40 hours per week.
The placement can be for a minimum of 3 weeks up to a maximum of 12 weeks in duration.

Employers interested in participating in the Work Ability Program can submit an Inventory Registration Application to the appropriate PETL regional office. A Program Officer will contact them when an individual requiring their type of job placement is referred by an Employment Counsellor/Case Manager.
