Description:

The Regis Duffy BioScience Fund (Duffy BioScience) invests up to $100,000 in emerging bioscience related businesses that are at the commercialization or near commercialization stage of their development with activities in Prince Edward Island.
Their aim is to increase each project's chances of successfully getting to market and to help small Prince Edward Island bioscience start-up companies carry out their innovation efforts within Prince Edward Island.

  • be at the commercialization or near commercialization stage of their development,
  • have activities in Prince Edward Island.

Application Steps:

1

submit a Statement of Interest (SOI) as an initial application used for preliminary screening and subject to a review process,

2

submit a Confidentiality and Disclosure Agreement (CDA) they will receive if considered eligible for funding,

3

meet with members of Duffy BioScience's Advisory Board to do a brief presentation,

4

submit a business plan if the Management Team determines that the project appears to be a proper fit for funding,

5

meet with the Management Team to discuss the business plan. If it determines that an investment is warranted, they will issue a Term Sheet to the applicant. If the terms are acceptable, the Fund will conduct a more detailed review of the business and issue a definitive agreement to be signed, if they are satisfied with what they find.

The applicant must submit:

  • a Statement of Interest (SOI) including the following information: full name and address of company (include both mailing and civic address if different), applicants title/position, contact information (phone and fax numbers, email address), details on ownership of the company, a brief statement about their company including the nature of the business and its current status, a statement outlining what they are proposing to do and what support they are requesting, and confirmation that the proposed activity is BioScience related and will occur on Prince Edward Island,
  • a business plan including the following elements: executive summary, business description, market analysis, competitor assessment, marketing plan, operating plan, financial plan.
