Description:

The Creation Grant program is designed to provide assistance to professional New Brunswick artists for the research, development and execution of original projects in the arts. Creation Grants are intended to allow artists to devote some or most of their time to research and creative production.
There are three levels of funding, depending on the artist category: Category A for senior artists, Category B for mid-career artists, and Category C for emerging artists.

Comments on Funding:

Funding for Category A (senior artists) is up to $16,500.
Funding for Category B (mid-career artists) is up to $11,000.
Funding for Category C (emerging artists) is up to $5,500.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • meet the professional artist criteria, including, but not limited to: having specialized training in an artistic discipline, having a history of public presentation, practicing an art and offering services in exchange for remuneration, having presented works to the public, having signed a service contract with a producer, or devoting a reasonable percentage of their professional activity to promoting and marketing works, attending auditions, seeking patrons or agents, submitting work to publishers, magazines, theatres, radio, and television, and other similar efforts, depending on the nature of their activities,
  • be in one of the following disciplines: architecture and craft, dance, classical and non-classical music, literary arts (including spoken word, storytelling, literary performance and literary translation), media arts, multidisciplinary arts, theatre, visual arts,
  • be Canadian citizens or permanent residents,
  • have resided in New Brunswick for at least 12 months prior to the application deadline,
  • have completed any projects previously funded under the Creation program,
  • not have an overdue Final Report for any project funded by artsnb.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:

create an online account on ​OA - ArtsNB,

submit the application by 11:59pm on the deadline date.

An artist may submit only one application in the Creation program per deadline.

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  • the completed application form, 
  • the project description (max. 350 words), project title, location, start and end dates,
  • a balanced project budget,
  • the artist's resume/CV,
  • samples of work,
  • CV and letter of agreement for each collaborator involved in the project,
  • critical reviews, pre-clippings and up to 2 letters of recommendation (optional).

Funding recipients are required to provide an final report following completion of the project.
