Description:

MMSB’s Solid Waste Management Innovation Fund (SWMIF) provides financial support to innovators who are advancing sustainable waste management by finding creative ways to turn trash into treasure in Newfoundland and Labrador. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is a non-repayable contribution covering up to 80% of the eligible costs of projects up to a maximum of $15,000.

Applicants must be:

  • provincially owned and/or operated businesses;
  • industry associations;
  • non-profit organizations;
  • developing new or improved technologies, products, services or processes that support the management of solid waste in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Application Steps:

wait for a call for proposals to be announced;

contact the Business Development Officer at MMSB (709-757- 0782 / moton@mmsb.nl.ca) prior to submitting a proposal;

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  1. 1
    a proposal (including organizational profile and executive summary, company/organization profile, description of project, project budget (table));
  2. 2
    a letter of good standing/satisfactory account from the proponent’s banking institution, if incorporated entities and sole proprietors/partnerships;
  3. 3
    a bank statement; a line of credit statement or a letter from the bank advising that the proponent can finance its portion of the project, if non-profit organizations;
  4. 4
    the proponent’s Government of Newfoundland and Labrador vendor/direct seller license number (where applicable).

Description:

Multi-Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB) matches the recycling refunds for K-12 public and private schools in Newfoundland and Labrador during the school year. The Get Matched! program is an excellent way for schools to raise funds while encouraging students and families to adopt sustainable waste management habits at school, home and play.

Applicant must collect the beverage containers;

Applicant must get matched (MMSB matches refunds on beverage containers returned to a Green Depot between September and June).
