Description:

The Surveillance and Emergency Management Initiative Sub-Program provides support for livestock surveillance and emergency management plans.

Comments on Funding:

Funding will be cost shared, between the applicant and the Department. The level of support and total contribution will be determined by the Assurance Systems Program Review Committee.

  • Mi’kmaq First Nations and other Indigenous Organizations,
  • agriculture industry organizations, clubs, and associations,
  • agricultural producers,
  • provincial/territorial governments,
  • small to medium-sized agri-businesses and agri-processors,
  • public and private Institutions

Description:

The Post-Farm Assurance Sub-Program provides assistance for the implementation of recognized assurance systems in food processing enterprises, and/or post-farm agri-food enterprises. This project driven sub-program will target post-farm enterprises that market or modify raw agricultural products.

Funding will be cost shared, between the applicant and the Department. The level of support and total contribution will be determined by the Assurance Systems Program Review Committee.

Agriculture Research and Innovation – Applied Research Sub-Program

Amount:

$80,000

Description:

The Applied Research Sub-Program supports the undertaking of short-term applied research that will yield economic benefits to the PEI agriculture industry. Research funded under this sub-program will provide data to develop new production methods, fill information gaps as well as to provide support to emerging commodities with high potential.

Comments on Funding:

Funding for agriculture industry associations is 75-100% of the eligible expenses, up to $60,000 for one-year projects and $80,000 for multi-year projects.

Funding for agricultural producers is 50% of the eligible expenses, up to $30,000 for one-year projects and $40,000 for multiyear projects.

Funding for public, academic institutions and agribusinesses is 25% of the eligible expenses, up to $30,000 for one-year projects and $40,000 for multiyear projects.

The Agriculture Research and Innovation Program will support farm-level research, innovation and adoption projects that are designed to increase the competitiveness, productivity and profitability of the Prince Edward Island agriculture industry.

Strategic Industry Growth Initiative (SIGI) Program

Description:

The Strategic Industry Growth Initiative is designed to increase the competitiveness, productivity and profitability of the agriculture industry through a coordinated effort to accelerate the development and successful commercialization of food products from Prince Edward Island.

This program will primarily focus on projects which will achieve its goals by identifying, creating, or maintaining market and innovation-based opportunities, facilitating value-chain development, and encouraging the formation of strategic relationships.
Priority will be given to holistic projects whose outcomes have broad sector and/or industry benefits.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to 85% of the eligible expenses.
Consultant costs will generally be funded to a maximum of $20,000 per project.
Maximum funding and percentage per project will be adjudicated by the SIGI Program Review Committee based on its expected transformational outcomes.

  • agriculture industry organizations, and associations,
  • agri-businesses,
  • agri-processors,

  • public, private and academic institutions.

Others may be considered upon request.
