New Brunswick Group Meeting Incentive Program

Description:

New Brunswick Group Meeting Incentive Program encourages meeting planners and businesses to host meetings and events of which registered New Brunswick roofed accommodation businesses will be providing a 20% rebate on eligible expenses. These registered New Brunswick roofed accommodation businesses are then eligible to apply to the Program to recover the 20% rebate. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is in the form of a 20% rebate on eligible expenses. There is a cap of $5,000.00 rebate for each eligible submission.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • be a registered New Brunswick roofed accommodation businesses which is able to accommodate 10 guestrooms, or more, and other eligible expenses under one roof, 
  • have hosted a meeting or event with a minimum of 10 paid guest rooms, for at least one night of the group booking,

Application Steps:

Applicants must mail the incentive claim to the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture, PO Box 6000, Fredericton, NB, E3B 0K2 (to the attention of Benita Albert) or email it to the attention of Benita Albert.

Upon verifying the eligibility and the validity of the Master Bill provided, with the attached claim, THC, will process and provide the 20% rebate to the roofed accommodation/operator.

Documentation Needed: 

​The applicants must submit the incentive claim, which will provide the following details:

  1. 1
    name of the roofed accommodation, complete address and name of contact,
  2. 2
    name of the group booking, with the associated arrival date and departure date,
  3. 3
    the number of guestrooms actualized each night of the particular group booking,
  4. 4
    the overnight room rate, the number of guestrooms, with the total dollar amount incurred for guestroom bookings,
  5. 5
    meeting room rental and associated meeting room eligible costs.
  6. 6
    total on-site food and beverage expenses incurred associated with the meeting(s) of the group booking,
  7. 7
    the amount of the Master bill to reflect the total amount of eligible Master Bill charges associated with the particular group booking,

Other Things to Note:

The Program is open between July 19, 2021 and April 30, 2022. The deadline for the submission of the Master Bill(s) for reimbursement is May 22, 2022

Book Publishers – Operations Grant

Description:

The Book Publishers - Operations Grant provides funding to for-profit businesses in New Brunswick to assist in covering some of the operations and projects costs to produce and present literary works. 

Comments on Funding:

The grant amount is based on the previous year’s grant and on the strength and merit of the application.

Applicants must be:

  • for-profit businesses whose principal activity is book publishing,
  • operating as a Canadian company held and controlled by New Brunswick residents.

Application Steps:

Applicants must submit the application in electronic format, along with electronic copies of support documentation, via email to culture@gnb.ca or mailed to the Department on a flash drive. Books must be mailed to or dropped off at the Department.

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • one copy of The company’s financial statements for the most recent completed fiscal year,
  • the Financial Summary sheet,
  • their most recent catalogue,
  • their standard contract with authors,
  • their Canada Council application form, if applicable,
  • their documents of incorporation, unless they are already on file with the Department. 

Other Things to Note:

Applications must be submitted by May 1st of the request year.

Book Publishing (Periodicals) – Operations Grant

Description:

The Book Publishing (Periodicals) – Operations Grant provides grants to for-profit businesses to assist in covering some of the operations and projects costs to produce and present periodicals that foster an appreciation of literature and the arts in New Brunswick.

The grant amount is based on the previous year’s grant and on the strength and merit of the application.

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:

  • for-profit businesses whose principal activity is arts periodical publishing,
  • operating as a Canadian company held and controlled by New Brunswick residents.

Application Steps:

Applicants must submit the application in electronic format, along with electronic copies of support documentation, via email to culture@gnb.ca or saved to a flash drive and mailed to/dropped off at the Branch’s office on or before May 1st. Hard copies of periodical issues must be mailed to or dropped off at the office by May 1st.

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • the company’s financial statements for the most recent completed fiscal year,
  • the Financial Summary sheet,
  • their most recent catalogue,
  • their standard contract with contributors,
  • their Canada Council application form, if applicable,
  • their documents of incorporation, unless they are already on file with the Department,
  • one copy of each of last year’s issues to the Department. 

Other Things to Note:

Applications must be submitted by May 1st of the request year.
In exceptional cases, periodicals that are published in other provinces of the Atlantic region and that are of a regional scope are eligible for assistance.

Film – Promotional Travel Assistance

Description:

The Promotional Travel Assistance Program offers support to help cover costs associated with attending film, television, and new media industry events, festivals, or professional development workshops where significant training opportunities and/or the potential for co-production agreements exist, or where the applicant’s work has been selected for screening and/or industry recognition. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is 50% of the total net cost of expenses incurred (excluding HST), to a maximum of $ 2,000 CAN.
The applicant may access funding from other agencies. However, the applicant must personally pay a minimum of 25% of the total expenditures.

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be a New Brunswick-based producer company.

Application Steps:

The applicant:

should submit a request for travel assistance a minimum of four (4) weeks before the event,

2

must send all applications and supporting documentation electronically by email to culture@gnb.ca.

Documentation Needed: 

​The applicant must submit:

  1. 1
    the completed application form,
  2. 2
    his biography, including production credits in the film, television and new media industry,
  3. 3
    detailed information on the special event or festival,
  4. 4
    evidence of the invitation to or registration at the festival or special event,
  5. 5
    a detailed budget illustrating expenses and sources of confirmed or anticipated funds (allowable expenses include registration, airfare, accommodation, and per diem),
  6. 6
    a travel schedule,
  7. 7
    upon return: proper documents, including final receipts, and a final report on results achieved from attending the event.

Other Things to Note:

The Department will accept applications until depletion of the Promotional Travel Assistance budget.

NB Film, Television & New Media Industry Support Program – Development Incentive

Description:

The NB Film, Television & New Media Industry Support Program – Development Incentive provides funds in the form of a grant to support the development of projects that have already secured intent or commitment from a broadcaster, funding agency and/or third party financing. Its aim is to support a viable and culturally significant film industry in New Brunswick. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding for dramatic feature films, made-for-TV movies, dramatic TV series and mini-series is up to 50% of the approved development budget to a maximum of $60,000 per project.
Funding for all other genres of projects is up to 40% of the approved development budget to a maximum of $25,000.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be incorporated New Brunswick companies having a permanent establishment in the province,
  • demonstrate that their primary purpose is the domestic or collaborative production of film or television products,
  • be privately owned or publicly-traded corporations. 

Eligible projects are: Feature films, Television content (MOW’s, sitcoms, dramatic series, docu-series), documentaries, reality and lifestyle series and non-animated children’s programming.

Application Steps:

The applicants must send their applications via email to: culture@gnb.ca.

Documentation Needed: 

The applicant must submit:

  • a completed, signed (by an authorized person) and dated application form,
  • a description of the proposed project,
  • a list of the key personnel involved in the project,
  • the financial structure proposed for the development of the project and details of the financing that is already in place,
  • a co-production agreement (if and when applicable),
  • corporate information (articles of incorporation, corporate structure, etc.),
  • any additional information as requested by the Branch.
  • an operational plan that demonstrates the producer will ensure that all screening, physical distancing, self-isolation directives and COVID-19 regulations in place by the Province of New Brunswick and municipalities within New Brunswick are respected. 

Other Things to Note:

Applications are accepted until depletion of the Development Incentive funding envelope.
