Community Capacity Building Program – Rural Growth Initiative

Description:

The Community Capacity Building Program provides financial assistance in the form of a non-repayable contribution to non-profit organizations and cooperatives and municipal governments to cultivate high levels of strategic expertise to support rural communities in Prince Edward Island to identify solutions for complex problems.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is normally up to 50% of eligible costs, up to $20,000 per application.
The applicant should normally contribute a monetary minimum of 10% of the total project cost (in kind ineligible).
Federal and Provincial funding cannot normally exceed 75% of the total project costs.

  • non-profit cooperatives that do not share dividends,

Economic Growth Program – Rural Growth Initiative

Description:

The Economic Growth Program provides financial assistance in the form of a non-repayable contribution to non-profit organizations and cooperatives and municipal governments to reduce barriers for economic growth through investing in activities which cultivate entrepreneurialism and support the implementation of strategic economic development plans.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is normally up to 50% of eligible costs, up to $50,000 per application.
The applicant should normally contribute a monetary minimum of 10% of the total project cost (in kind ineligible).
Federal and Provincial funding cannot normally exceed 75% of the total project costs.

Description:

The Inclusive Community Program provides financial assistance in the form of a non-repayable contribution to non-profit organizations and cooperatives and municipal governments to cultivate inclusiveness and support population retention rates by promoting a culture where newcomers feel they belong and their skills are valued.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is normally up to 50% of eligible costs, up to $2,500 per application.
The applicant should normally contribute a monetary minimum of 10% of the total project cost (in kind ineligible).
Federal and Provincial funding cannot normally exceed 75% of the total project costs.

Community Revitalization Program – Rural Growth Initiative

Description:

The Community Revitalization Program provides financial assistance in the form of a non-repayable contribution to non-profit organizations and cooperatives and municipal governments to support the revitalization of rural communities through strategic investments in infrastructure that is important for rural culture, society, and economic development.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is normally up to 50% of eligible costs, up to $100,000 per application.
The applicant should normally contribute a monetary minimum of 10% of the total project cost (in kind ineligible).
Federal and Provincial funding cannot normally exceed 75% of the total project costs.

The applicant must:

  • Incorporated and non-profit organizations which have a mandate for community and/or economic development,
  • non-profit cooperatives that do not share dividends,

Special Projects Program – Employers

Amount:

No Fixed Amount

Type of Program:

Wage Subsidy


Description:

The Special Projects Program - Employers provides 100% minimum wage support for non-profit organizations in PEI and municipal and provincial government departments and agencies in PEI to create temporary employment for Islanders in need. Employers can “top-up” wages using their own resources.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is 100% minimum wage support.

Eligibility:

Applicant must be:

  • non-profit organizations in PEI,
  • municipal and provincial government departments and agencies in PEI.

Employees must:

  • be unemployed Islanders,
  • be at least 30 years of age,
  • have or are about to exhaust their Employment Insurance benefits,
  • be registered with the Provincial Job Registry.

Application Steps:

Applicants must complete the online form and upload the supporting documents and submit them.

Documentation Needed: 

The applicant must submit:

  • the online application form, providing detailed information about their organization including: Revenue Canada Account number, Workers Compensation Board account number, and Business Name Registry number,
  • a clear description of the employment opportunity including required skill, wage rate and employment start and end dates.

Other Things to Note:

Positions can have varying starting dates and normally cannot be longer than 13 consecutive weeks. Projects can begin at any time but must conclude by March 31 of the fiscal year.
