Description:

The Tourism Economic Development Fund provides financial assistance to Miramichi community organizations and businesses to develop new tourism products. Funding will be available to non-profit community-based organizations or for-profit community businesses whose purpose is to operate a tourism attraction, facility or activity and whose focus is on attracting visitors from the local, regional, national and international markets to the City of Miramichi.

Where applicable, funding should be complementary to Programs offered by other agencies, rather than replace such funding.

JEDI Aboriginal Development Fund (JADF)

Description:

The JEDI Aboriginal Development Fund (JADF) provides funding to entrepreneurs/existing businesses and communities to support business and community economic development planning in the First Nation communities of New Brunswick.  

Comments on Funding:

Funding for Community Economic Development is up to 50% of total planning costs, not to exceed $8,000.
Funding for Business/Entrepreneurship Development is up to 50% of total planning costs, not to exceed $4,000.

Community Food Security and Agriculture Awareness Program – Agriculture Awareness Sub-Program

Description:

The Agriculture Awareness Sub-Program provides funding to develop and coordinate promotional events, campaigns and education activities to increase agriculture awareness and food literacy and to create activities linking the agriculture industry with schools and the public to promote agriculture.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is 50% of eligible expenses, up to $10,000 per project.
The Department reserves the right to consider additional amounts for funding on a case-by-case basis.

Community Food Security and Agriculture Awareness Program Guidelines

Community Food Security and Agriculture Awareness Program – Community Food Security Sub-Program

Description:

The Community Food Security Sub-Program offers funding to create community, government and industry partnerships that support PEI residents in obtaining safe, culturally acceptable, nutritionally adequate diets through a local, sustainable food system that maximizes community self-reliance. Projects should aim to be explicitly inclusive of one or more group of underrepresented people.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is 100% of eligible expenses, up to $10,000 per project.
The Department reserves the right to consider additional amounts for funding on a case-by-case basis.
