Affordable Housing Incentive

Description:

The Affordable Housing Incentive program provides funding to stimulate below market, affordable and accessible housing options in the City of Miramichi.  

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to $10,000.00 per qualified rental unit.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be not-for-profit Housing Providers or Private Sector Developers,
  • have a registered ownership interest in the property named in the application based on the Service NB Property Account Number (PAN).

Eligible Projects:

  • must be approved for funding by CMHC and/or SD under their respective Affordable Housing Programs (Projects that are fully funded (100%) by the CMHC and/or SD Programs are deemed to be ineligible for this funding program),
  • must be located within the boundaries of the City of Miramichi,
  • must be located where existing municipal water & sewerage services are available unless approved by GMRSC-Planning & Building Services,
  • are limited to the creation of new Rental Units exclusively,
  • must receive Letter of Offer prior to the commencement of construction,
  • must meet or exceed all requirements of the City of Miramichi Zoning Bylaw #110 and building code requirements as determined by the GMRSC – Planning & Building Services,
  • that include a commercial property within the BIA, must have the BIA Levy for the subject property (PAN) up to date and paid in full for the previous taxation year.

Applicants must:

contact the City of Miramichi, Department of Economic Development & Tourism to discuss the program and determine pre-eligibility, 

2

submit a completed application with all support documentation and obtain final approval prior to the commencement of any work related to the application.

    a detailed project budget,
  4. 4
    detailed plans (site plan, floor plans, façade details, etc.),

    planning permit (if required),

    construction schedule (start and finish date),

Other Things to Note:

Successful applicants that meet the program criteria will be issued a Letter of Offer demonstrating the City of Miramichi’s commitment to the project and outlining any conditions that need to be satisfied prior to advancement of funds.

Tourism Relief Fund

Amount:

Description:

With a budget of $500 million over two years (ending March 31, 2023), including $50 million specifically dedicated to Indigenous tourism initiatives and $15 million for national initiatives, The Tourism Relief Fund supports tourism businesses and organizations to adapt their operations to meet public health requirements while investing in products and services to facilitate their future growth.

Comments on Funding:

Contributions to businesses will be either:

  1. 1
    non-repayable contributions up to $100,000 for up to 50% of eligible costs;
  2. 2
    fully repayable contributions up to $500,000 for up to 75% of eligible costs

Not-for-profit organizations and Indigenous entities (not generating profits) will be eligible for non-repayable contributions.

Project contribution amounts would not exceed $500,000. The actual contribution amount will be based on the minimum amount required to carry out the project.

A business cannot receive a combination of a non-repayable and a repayable contribution for the same project.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be tourism entities that cater mainly to visitors, such as:
  • businesses;
  • not-for-profit organizations, such as tourism associations;
  • municipalities, and
  • band councils or other Indigenous organizations and cooperatives.
  • meet at least one of the following criteria:
  • be a key supplier or operator in the visitor experience;
  • be part of a defined tourism cluster or a tourism dependent community, including supporting downtown cores; or
  • provide an anchor product or service in a tourism destination.

Applicants must send the form through the application for financial assistance page or by mail to the ACOA regional office in your province.

For-profit applicants must submit a completed application form and the following supporting documents:

    research and development (r&d) project plan, business plan and/or marketing plan,

Not-for-profit applicants and other applicants must submit a completed application form and the following supporting documents:

    constituting / incorporating documents and list of directors/members of the board,

    description and mandate of the applicant, including the management and qualifications of key personnel,
  4. 4
    HST rebate information (I.E. rebate rate),

    one of the following two items is required: research and development (r&d) project plan or detailed project description, including milestones, costs, financing, key partnerships established and evidence of support from the community,

    supplier quotes,
  7. 7
    copies of relevant permits and licenses,

JEDI Aboriginal Development Fund (JADF)

Description:

The JEDI Aboriginal Development Fund (JADF) provides funding to entrepreneurs/existing businesses and communities to support business and community economic development planning in the First Nation communities of New Brunswick.  

Comments on Funding:

Funding for Community Economic Development is up to 50% of total planning costs, not to exceed $8,000.
Funding for Business/Entrepreneurship Development is up to 50% of total planning costs, not to exceed $4,000.

Community Cultural Partnership Program

Amount:

Description:

The Community Cultural Partnership Program provides grants to non-profit organizations to assist with activities that promote the culture and heritage of Prince Edward Island. Priority will be given to new initiatives fostering community partnerships.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to 50% cent of eligible expenses, to a maximum of $2,500.
The total funding from all provincial government sources will be limited to 60% of the total project costs.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • be a registered Prince Edward Island non-profit, community-based organization,
  • be in operation for the previous 12 months,
  • meet the insurance requirements outlined in the funding agreement.

Application Steps:

submit his application and the supporting documents by April 15th.

complete his project between April 1st and March 15th.

Once his project is approved, all required supporting documents are submitted and the funding agreement is signed, 80% of funds will be issued. The final 20% will be issued upon receipt of final invoice and the approval of the final report and project financials (revenues and expenses).

Documentation Needed: 

​The applicant must submit the online application form, including the following information:

  • a brief background of your non-profit organization,
  • a clear description of your proposed project including objectives,
  • a detailed project budget, either upload a detailed statement of revenues and expenses or use the template provided,
  • supporting documents such as letters of support, artists’ bios, or quotes for printing or publishing.
  • a COVID-19 Operational Plan and a viability plan. 

​The applicant must submit the final invoice, a the final report and project financials (revenues and expenses) at the end of the project.

Broadband Fund for Communities

Amount:

Description:

The Prince Edward Island Broadband Fund provides financial assistance to Prince Edward Island communities for the installation of infrastructure for enhanced broadband services.  

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to a maximum of 50% of the eligible costs of the approved project.
The maximum, total grant contribution from all Government of Prince Edward Island sources cannot exceed 50%. Loans or other repayable contributions are not included within this calculation. Where a project receives any other grant funding from the Government of Prince Edward Island, the contribution from PEIBF may be reduced.

  • a Prince Edward Island community,
  • requiring increased service levels and/or has un-serviced / underserved areas. 

Application Steps:

The applicant must:

submit his application forms and the proposal description to Innovation PEI via online web form or in signed PDF format via email or hard copy,

accept the letter of offer forwarded to them which shall create a contract between Innovation PEI and the applicant, if the case, 

3

submit the required financial and status reporting, including supporting documentation, to Innovation PEI at specified dates and/or milestones, as detailed within the contract between the parties.

    a proposal including the profile of the community, information on the estimated costs (Itemized project cost estimate must be supported by written quotation(s) and proposal from internet service provider(s)), financial statements for the previous two years, the sources of project funds.
