Description:

The Green Jobs Internship Program, generously funded by Natural Resources Canada, is a wage subsidy initiative that places Canadians in roles in the natural resources sectors, including energy, forestry, mining, and earth sciences. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is a wage subsidy of up $20,000 per intern hired, or up to $25,000 for youth hired who are furthest from employment. (EXCLUDED/to remove:(include Indigenous Youth, youth with disabilities, placements in Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut, rural communities, and remote communities).
Clean Foundation will subsidize 50% of each intern’s salary.)

Eligibility:

Employer applicants must:

  • be legal entities incorporated or registered in Canada, including for-profit and not-for-profit organizations;
  • be Indigenous organizations and groups;
  • be Provincial, territorial, regional and municipal governments and their departments and agencies.

Intern applicants must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of the internship;
  • be eligible to work in Canada;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or have refugee status.
  • be not currently enrolled in school.

Science Horizons

Description:

The Science Horizons Internship Program, generously funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada, is a wage subsidy initiative that matches post-secondary graduates aged 15-30, with positions across Canada that help combat climate change. 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is a wage subsidy of up to $25,000 per intern hired. Clean Foundation will subsidize 50% of each intern’s salary, up to a maximum of 80% for youth from employment equity groups (Women; Visible minority youth; Indigenous youth; Youth living with disabilities; Youth from Official Language Minority Communities (OLMC); and Youth residing in a rural or remote location). 


The employer must be able to contribute at least 20% of the total cost of each internship.

Eligibility:

Employer applicants must:

  • be able to contribute at least 20% of the total cost of each internship;
  • be able to create a position with an environmental focus for an individual who does not currently work at your organization;
  • be able to host an internship between 6-12 months;
  • be located anywhere in Canada;
  • be able to supervise and mentor an intern utilizing a formal training plan.

Intern applicants must:

  • be no more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship;
  • be graduated from a post-secondary program;
  • be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, or person who has been granted Refugee status in Canada;
  • be not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) during the internship;
  • be not currently working for hiring organization;
  • be not currently enrolled in school.
