Ticket Incentive Program 2021-22

Description:

The Ticket Incentive Program 2021-22 is designed to provide a ticket incentive for live performances presented between April 1, 2021 and March 1, 2022 by live performance venues and festivals. Performances must have already taken place prior to application date. 

Comments on Funding:

Successful applicants are reimbursed at $5 per ticket sold, up to maximum grant amounts.

Category Grant maximums are as follows:

  1. 1
    A - Venues with a small seating capacity (150 people or less) - $750,
  2. 2
    B - Venues with a medium seating capacity (151 – 500 people) - $2,000,
  3. 3
    C - Venues with a large seating capacity (more than 500 people) - $4,000,
  4. 4
    D - Arts and Culture Festivals (1.99K or fewer attendees) - $4,000,
  5. 5
    E - Arts and Culture Festivals (2K or more attendees) - $6,000.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be arts organizations, arts presenters and arts and cultural festivals,
  • present live shows by professional New Brunswick artists and/or arts groups in artistic disciplines such as dance, visual and/or media arts, theatre, music, or literary arts, with an average ticket cost of $5 or more,
  • be legally constituted in New Brunswick,
  • have professional training and/or related experience in the areas of presenting performances and/or exhibits in one or several artistic disciplines.

Category A applicants must apply to the Small Venues Ticket Incentive Program through Music NB.
Category B,C,D,E applicants must submit the application electronically via email to culture@gnb.ca.

New Brunswick Music Industry Development (MID) Program -Professional Development & Business Travel Component

Amount:

$3,500

Type of Program:

Grants


Description:

The Professional Development & Business Travel Component assists artists and industry professionals with expenses associated in participating in domestic and international music industry conferences, trade fairs, business trips and business development missions.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to $3,500 per application.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • be an individual or a registered business with Service NB (for groups and businesses),
  • be resident of New Brunswick twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the application. For projects submitted by businesses intended for artists the artists must be residents of New Brunswick twelve (12) consecutive months prior to submitting an application. For groups, the majority of members must be residents of New Brunswick.
  • be registered with Service NB twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the application, if a business.

Not-for-profit organisations may be eligible for this component. Cover bands and tribute bands are not eligible. Exceptions may be made for blues, classical, jazz or traditional standards. 

Application Steps:

must submit their application and supporting documents at the latest two (2) business days prior to the departure date, 

3

may only receive investment from this component once.

Documentation Needed: 

The applicant must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • the detailed itinerary and travel plans, including locations and dates,
  • the description of the event(s) to be attended,
  • a list of contacts and meetings planned,
  • the description of training or mentorship and CVs or biographies of facilitators for professional development,
  • the rationale on why the applicant wish to further develop the market(s), if returning to a market,
  • a project budget with specific expenses and revenues,
  • any other information relevant to his project.

New Brunswick Music Industry Development (MID) Program – Sound Recording Component

Amount:

$6,000

Type of Program:

Grants


Description:

The Sound Recording Component promotes the development and growth of the New Brunswick music industry through providing opportunities to create, market and promote New Brunswick sound recordings with market potential and encourages the career development of artists and the emergence of new talent and content.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to $6,000 per fiscal year. 


When It Ends:

Closed for 2021-2022 fiscal year

2022/2023 dates to be announced

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • be an individual or a registered business with Service NB (for groups and businesses),
  • be resident of New Brunswick twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the application. For projects submitted by businesses intended for artists the artists must be residents of New Brunswick twelve (12) consecutive months prior to submitting an application. For groups, the majority of members must be residents of New Brunswick.
  •  hold the rights for materials to be recorded or own the master of the eligible sound recording for which funding is being requested. In the case where the applicant is not the artist, contracts with the artist(s) relating to production and distribution of the album (exclusive sound recording contract, co-production, license, etc.) are required.
  • be registered with Service NB twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the application, if a business.

Cover bands and tribute bands are not eligible. Exceptions may be made for blues, classical, jazz or traditional standards.

must submit their application and supporting documents before the start of the project,

3

may only receive investment from this component once.

Documentation Needed: 

The applicant must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • a full album: three (3) demo tracks,
  • a mini-album/EP: two (2) demo tracks,
  • a single: one (1) demo track of the proposed single,
  • quotes from all service providers (studio, producer, graphic designer, etc.),
  • the lyrics (if applicable),
  • CVs or biographies of all relevant team members,
  • a project marketing plan (1,000 words max),
  • recording previously released works. If there are works that have previously been recorded and released by the applicant, a rationale must be provided why they are to be re-recorded.
  • a project budget with specific expenses and revenues,
  • any other information relevant to his project.

New Brunswick Music Industry Development (MID) Program – Live Performance Component

Description:

The Live Performance Component provides investment for domestic and international live performance activity by New Brunswick artists to increase their presence in markets outside the province.

Comments on Funding:

Funding for domestic tours and live performances is up to $5,000 per application.
Funding for international tours and live performances is up to $7,500 per application.

  • be an individual or a registered business with Service NB (for groups and businesses),
  • be resident of New Brunswick twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the application. For projects submitted by businesses intended for artists the artists must be residents of New Brunswick twelve (12) consecutive months prior to submitting an application. For groups, the majority of members must be residents of New Brunswick.
  • be registered with Service NB twelve (12) consecutive months prior to the application, if a business.

The applicant must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • the detailed itinerary of live performance dates, including locations and travel days. If returning to a market, provide the rationale on why the artist wishes to further develop the market(s).
  • signed contracts, agreements or proof of booking between the artist/management and the venue, promoter, festival, etc. for a minimum of three (3) dates in the Maritimes and five (5) dates in Canada and/or international market,
  • quotes from all service providers (booking agents, publicists, technical crew, etc.),
  • information regarding the promotion and the marketing of the tour,
  • a project budget with specific expenses and revenues,
  • any other information relevant to his project.
