Description:
The Project Grants for Publishing Program is designed to stimulate literary arts’ production, dissemination, and commissioning. It assist in the growth and development of the publishing field and the exploration of new models of publishing activity.
There are three types of grants, depending on the assisted activities:
- 1Production Grants assist with the creation/production of a specific work(s), for example the creation or production of a new work, new translation or new digital format.
- 2Dissemination Grants assist with the dissemination of work(s) through public engagement activities or strategic partnerships with other organizations, for example , funding an author tour, public readings, or a public event.
- 3Commissioning Grants assist with the creation of a new literary work by a Nova Scotian artist. Commissions can include professional authors, artists, illustrators, photographers.
Comments on Funding:
Funding for Production Grants is up to $15,000.
Funding for Dissemination Grants is up to $10,000.
Funding for Commissioning Grants is up to $5,000.
Applicants may request funding in one or more categories.

Letters of intent from any person or organization involved in the project, and/or letters of support from professional, practicing artists in the relevant discipline(s) might be necessary. Applicants must contact the program officer when in doubt about these documents.
Other Things to Note:
The program is no longer listed among Arts Nova Scotia Programs and the last recipients of the program were announced in 2019.
