Ready-To-Work (RTW) Youth Program

Description:

The RTW Youth Program is a fully funded federal program and is intended for youth aged 15-30 who are facing a barrier in their life holding them back from obtaining meaningful employment. The program has an 8 weeks classroom training component and a 12-week work placement of their choice in the tourism industry. It will supplement half the participants’ pay (to a maximum of 50% of minimum wage for 40hrs per week) to help the employers provide an optimal learning environment for participants.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to 50% of the minimum wage for 40hrs per week.

Eligibility:

  • Employers must be PEI tourism-industry businesses.
  • Employees must be youth aged 15-30 who are facing a barrier in their life holding them back from obtaining meaningful employment. Barriers can include, but are not limited to, recent immigrants to Canada, single parents, people who did not complete high school, etc. 

Application Steps:

Other Things to Note:

No new start dates have been announced since 2019.
