Farm Building Assessment Program

Description:

The Farm Building Assessment Program provides owners of farm properties with tax relief for farm buildings that are no longer used for the reason they were originally constructed, converted to an alternate use, or vacated. 

Comments on Funding:

If eligible, depending on the condition and use of the farm building(s), an assessment allowance would be applied.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be property owners with farm buildings on the property; 
  • be owners of bona fide farm properties where there has been a change in use in the farm buildings;
  • have farm buildings that are:
  • no longer be used for the purpose for which they were originally constructed;
  • be converted to an alternate use; or
  • be vacated completely.

Application Steps:

Applicants must complete the application form and return to Taxation and Property Records.

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit the completed application form.
