Consultant Advisory Services

Description:

Consultant Advisory Services provides financing to small businesses and not-for-profit organizations to cover the fees associated with hiring a professional consultant to address specific challenges, deficiencies and opportunities for the business or organization.

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to 75% of the professional fees and costs, up to a maximum of $5,000.
HST is not included in these amounts and is not reimbursed by this program.

Eligibility:

The applicant must:

  • Applicants must be small businesses and nonprofits in St. John's & Mount Pearl.

Application Steps:

1

 should meet with a Metro Business Opportunities staff member to discuss eligibility criteria and ineligible activities,

2

complete the program application that can be supplied by MBO staff, or can be downloaded online,

3

must identify their specific needs and seek a consultant to prepare a Consultant Proposal,

4

submit the completed application and the Consultant Proposal to an MBO Client Services Officer to be assessed,

5

sign and return the contract to MBO within 10 business days, if the proposal is deemed suitable. 

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • the profile of the applicants' organization, including a description of the product or service they offer,
  • 3 years of most recent financial statements,
  • a description of their current situation and rationale for the proposed activity,
  • the Consultant Proposal, including a detailed statement of work and the company profile.

Upon completion of the proposed work, the client submits copies of the consultant's final report, invoice, and client evaluation form.

Other Things to Note:

Funding for CAS has been provided by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Community Business Development Corporations (NLACBDC).
