Equinox Program for Indigenous Artists

Description:

The Equinox Program supports Indigenous artists, curators, collectives and groups to engage in artistic creation, professional development and capacity building.
There are three types of Equinox grants: Research and Development, Creation of New Work, and Connections.
 

Comments on Funding:

Funding is up to $5,000 and must be used within 12 months of receiving the grant.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be Indigenous artists, curators, collectives and groups,
  • be emerging, mid-career or senior artists working in all disciplines,
  • meet the professional artist criteria, including, but not limited to: having peer recognition, having a history of public presentation, having training appropriate to the artist's chosen discipline (including mentorship and/or apprenticeship training), earning income, fully or in part, from artistic activity, demonstrating serious intent and devotion of energy to practicing art,
  • be Canadian citizens or permanent residents,
  • have resided in New Brunswick for at least 12 months prior to the application deadline,
  • have completed any projects previously funded under the Equinox program,
  • not have an overdue Final Report for any project funded by artsnb.

Application Steps:

Applicants must:

create an online account,

submit the application.

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  • the completed application form,
  • the project description (max. 350 words) or 3-to-5 minute oral video description of the project,
  • project title, location, start/end dates and budget,
  • the artist’s resume / CV or 1-minute oral video describing the applicant's artistic background,
  • samples of work,
  • critical reviews, pree clippings and up to 2 letters of recommendation (optional).

Funding recipients are required to provide an final report following completion of the project.
