Agri-Industry Development & Advancement – Advancing Crop and Livestock Sectors: Livestock Genetic Enhancement

Description:

The Livestock Genetic Enhancement provides funding to foster the continued improvement of the genetic base of the New Brunswick livestock sectors through the purchase of genetically superior animals, providing new production and marketing opportunities.
There is funding available for the genetic enhancement of beef, swine, sheep, goat, mink and farmed fox, and also for dairy genomic testing.
 

Comments on Funding:

Funding for the genetic enhancement of animals ranges from up to 30% to 100%, up to a maximum of $5,000.
Funding for dairy genomic testing is provided at a rate of $20.00 per head to a maximum of $5,000 per applicant farm operation per year.

Eligibility:

Applicants must:

  • be New Brunswick farmers, 
  • be compliant with the Livestock Operations Act or have a license application or renewal in process,
  • have the premises on which the farming activities occur in New Brunswick.

Applicants must submit a completed application form and attach any additional required documentation to any Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries (DAAF) regional office or directly to the CAP Administrator, Industry Financial Programs, Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries, P.O. Box 6000, Fredericton, NB E3B 5H1, or by e-mail to CAP.ADMIN@gnb.ca.

Documentation Needed: 

Applicants must submit:

  • submit the claim form, 
  • animal identification and purchase documentation,
  • copies of all receipts,
  • animal identification and purchase documentation,
  • other specific documentation if the case.

Other Things to Note:

The Canada / New Brunswick Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP) policy framework is a five year federal, provincial and territorial Initiative which will operate from April 1, 2018 to March 31, 2023, unless otherwise announced. Program applications are welcome on an ongoing basis until funding is exhausted.
